Beautiful girl enjoying her ice lollie

I guess I’ve been a bit reluctant to post pictures of my kids, lots of people do that. I used to only take photos of ‘stuff’, but more and more I love people. People are amazing. Of course my own kids come at the top of the list of favourite people. Children are wonderful people that never cease to amaze you.

I know I’m biased, but I think my children are beautiful, gorgeous. And they have such character! How you could ever fit the amount of character into such a small person as my youngest I have no idea!

This photo was taken at a ‘Party in the Park’ at the weekend. We seem to be having summer at last, in September! It was really hot (For England) so some sort of iced refreshment was very welcome – although it could also look like some kind of strange instrument she’s playing!

I have a cheap Sigma 70-300mm lens, used to take this. It takes okay photos providing you don’t use it ‘wide open’ (Wide open = Large aperture = small f number = shallow depth of field ) and that you do use a fast shutter to stop motion blur from moving around (It doesn’t have image stabilisation). Despite it’s short comings I love being able to take photos of people unaware of me. Never let the quality of equipment stop you from taking photos – you can still end up with some real gems.

I was tempted to try and vignette this photo, but interestingly I found that it kind of already has a white vignette. The darker patches in the middle draw your eye in from the bright edges just as effectively as the usual darker edges.

I think this photo looks like summer, even if it is mid-September!
